About Us

Birrang Enterprise Development Company Limited (Birrang) was formed in 2003 and is a regional Community Development Employment Project (CDEP) and Indigenous Employment program (IEP) provider - assisting eligible unemployed Aboriginal job seekers with training, employment and work activity opportunities.

Birrang was formed as an Aboriginal Company working for Indigenous people, but in recent times has diversified its offer to include people from all cultures and socio economic backgrounds.

Birrang provides CDEP programs in Bourke, Brewarrina, Enngonia and Weilmoringle, IEP programs NSW wide and is also a member of both the Indigenous Employment Program and the Employer Broker Panel.

We provide:

  • Extensive experience working with people (especially youth) from disadvantaged backgrounds, communities or marginalised groups
  • A supportive and non-threatening environment for personal development with a focus on encouragement
  • Holistic educational & vocational training to meet community needs or opportunities
  • Individual case management & customised assistance
  • Culturally appropriate work mentoring services and post program support
  • Support to make community projects happen
  • Links to agencies for solutions to non-vocational issues to overcome barriers to participation

The Birrang team has many years’ experience delivering services to a wide range of people including Aboriginal and isolated communities where a ‘different’ or ‘culturally appropriate’ approach is required.

A key factor in Birrang’s success is the amount of quality face to face time our field officers generate with clients. We invest heavily in building up a rapport and trust with local communities. This investment helps us to build an effective capacity with local people and communities.

I want my community to be strong.
